Biography

Kaushik Roy Chowdhury received his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in August 2009, under the guidance of Prof. Ian F. Akyildiz. He completed his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Cincinnati in 2006, being advised by Prof. Dharma Agrawal. Previously, he received his B.E. in 2003 from the University of Mumbai.

Dr. Chowdhury has won the best paper award at the Ad Hoc and Sensor Network symposium in the IEEE ICC 2009 conference. He was also given the outstanding M.S. thesis award jointly by the ECE and CS departments at the University of Cincinnati in 2006, and the BWN researcher of the year award during his Ph.D. in 2007.

  • Cognitive Radio (CR) Networks: Spectrum sensing, spectrum sharing, interference avoidance, and policy issues for dynamic spectrum access. Design and experimentation of MAC, routing and transport protocols for distributed networks.

  • Multimedia Wireless Sensor Networks (WMSNs): Design of WMSN architectures and testbeds. Tradeoffs between energy consumption and event detection accuracy, interfacing issues with external networks, end-to-end reliability.
