Professor Stefano Basagni Becomes ACM Distinguished Member

Associate ECE & affiliated BioE Professor Stefano Basagni has been named a Distinguished Scientist of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

The Distinguished Member level, initiated in 2006, was created to recognize ACM Professional Members who have achieved significant accomplishments or made a significant impact on the computing field.

The 2015 inductees come from around the world and include members from Belgium, China, Egypt, India, the United Kingdom, and, of course, right here in Boston, to name a few. Members can be found at top academic institutions, and corporate and national research laboratories.

“Whenever we use an app on our phone to get driving directions, securely pay bills online, or conduct an internet search, we are benefiting from the research and efforts of computing professionals,” said ACM President Alexander L. Wolf.

“For each of our 100,000 + members around the world, learning about the achievements of their peers means connecting to new advances and promising research. For the general public, our recognition and awards program serves as a reminder that the technology we all take for granted springs from a dedicated community of professionals who are building on the foundations of their predecessors and shaping the future in significant new ways,” said ACM President Wolf.

Congratulations to Professor Stefano Basagni.
