ECE Professor David Kaeli Delivers 2014 European HiPEAC Conference Keynote

ECE Professor David Kaeli delivered the keynote address on Monday in Vienna, Austria for the 2014 European Network of Excellence on High Performance and Embedded Architecture and Compilation (HiPEAC) conference. His address, entitled "The Road to New Programming Models and Architectures for Future Heterogeneous Systems," examined the widening gap between hardware technology and programming models. Current programming models fail to take full advantage of rapidly improving hardware capabilities, leading to the need to fundamentally rethink contemporary programming models and replace them with novel approaches.
Professor Kaeli is an IEEE Fellow and joined the Northeastern ECE faculty in 1993. He has contributed to over 250 publications, 8 books, 8 patents, and his research spans diverse areas from microarchitecture to back-end compilers and high performance systems.
