ECE PhD Student Awarded Baidu Scholarship

PhD Student Sheng Li has been named one of ten awardees of The Baidu Scholarship.

Baidu, a Chinese search engine company, selects PhD students for this scholarship based on research accomplishment and academic record for candidates doing exceptional work in computer science and related disciplines.

This scholarship provides financial support of roughly $28,000 for two years to ten students out of thousands of applications from around the world. Four out of the ten award winners are from the United States universities MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and, of course, Northeastern.

Sheng Li is a 5th-year PhD candidate in Computer Engineering at the Northeastern. He is a research assistant in the Synergetic Media Learning (SMILE) Lab, directed by Professor Yun Raymond Fu. He has broad interests in data science and machine learning, including multi-view learning, time series modeling, visual intelligence, and causal inference.
