About Me:

I am a visiting scholar at Northeastern University and currently an Associate Professor of Department of Electrical Engineering, Sichuan University, China. In this brand new environment I am seeking to improve my professional skills both in teaching and research.

Solar Forecasting, PV Blanket, PV power generation, grid connected inverter, AC/DC microgrids

Ongoing Projects:

Project: WattSun
Description: In order to reduce reserve requirements and lower operational costs, precise solar/photovoltaic (PV) power prediction is necessary. WattSun is dedicated to forecast regional PV power for large scale grid integration, which gives out regional PV power of up to 2 days ahead with hourly resolution. Deep machine learning algorithm is implemented for advanced prediction and minimized errors.

Project: PV Blanket
Description: A modular plug-and-play photovoltaic (PV) converter system is developed for portable PV applications. Small submodules of PV cells have individual dc/dc converters performing distributed maximum power point tracking. The presented system features advantages of 1) compatibility of various types of PV subpanels (different chemistry, power levels, operating characteristics); 2) capability of drawing higher power from mismatched PV subpanels; 3) high reliability due to its parallel structure and peer-to-peer operating mechanism.
