The 2-D Finite-Difference Time-Domain code was written by Joseph Hollman as part of his Ph.D. research. Several students in our group wrote or modified previous versions of it. You can find research based results from different versions of this code on our Research and Publications pages.
There are papers on FDTD for confocal microscopy in skin (Blair Simon), OCT in lung (David Reed, Tristan Swedish, Joseph Robinson), and the interaction of light and ultrasound (Joseph Hollmann).
The Black Body Code was written mosty by Chuck DiMarzio, and includes functions for spectral radiant exitance of black body radiation, and several quantities in a specified band: radiant exitance, luminous exitance, photon exitance, approximate tristimulus and RGB values.
