Directions to OSL


Follow the directions to Northeatern's campus using whatever mode of transportation you plan to use. Then scroll down to find directions to the lab or Chuck's office. The lab, Chuck's office, and the Department office are all in different buildings. Please make sure you know which one is the location of your meeting, and follow the appropriate directions.


BY PUBLIC TRANSIT

RUGGLES STATION on the ORANGE LINE, the NEEDHAM COMMUTER RAIL line, the FRANKLIN COMMUTER RAIL line, PROVIDENCE COMMUTER RAIL LINE, and numerous bus lines, is at the end of Forsyth Street. Signs in the station direct you to Northeastern University. The Egan Research Center is the first building on the right. For Chuck's office in Stearns, keep walking past 3 more buildings and an ATM. Look for a diner called Chicken Lou's on the right. Cross the street, go up the stairs, walk across a plaza and look to the right for Stearns.

NORTHEASTERN STATION on the GREEN LINE Arborway or Heath Street (E) Branch and the NUMBER 39 BUS line is on Huntington Avenue. Both stop in front of the Marino Gym. Cross Huntington Avenue. Walk west on Huntington Avenue past one building. Take the stairs on the left to Stearns for Chuck's office. For the lab, walk down Forsyth Street toward Ruggles Station to find the Egan Research Center on the left at the end.

By Amtrak

Get off at Back Bay Station. Take the Orange Line in the "Forest Hills" direction two stops to Ruggles.

By Subway From The Airport

Take the Silver Line 1 bus (free trip all the way to the campus) from any terminal to South Station. Take the Red Line (Alewife Direction) one stop to Downtown Crossing. Take the Orange Line (Forest Hills Direction) to Ruggles Station.

or

Free shuttle busses, numbered 22 and 33 stop at the subway station. Take the inbound blue line (Bowdoin Direction) to Government Center Station. Then take the Green Line Heath Street (E) car to Northeastern Station. Note: Purchase subway tickets from one of the ticket machines at the Airport Station.


BY AUTO

The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Avenue, number 62 on the map below.

From the Airport or Northern Suburbs

Follow signs for Storrow Drive West. Take Fenway Exit from Storrow Drive. Follow directions below from Storrow Drive.

From Western Suburbs via Mass Pike (I--90)

Take Exit 22, "Copley Square," and keep to right. Turn right on Dartmouth Street. Turn right on Columbus Av, and continue to Renaissance Parking Garage, 835 Columbus Avenue.

Alternate from Western Suburbs via Mass Pike (I--90)

Take Exit 18 "Allston, Cambridge," and follow signs to Boston. This will put you on Storrow Drive along the Charles River. Take Fenway Exit and follow instructions below from Storrow Drive.

from Southern Suburbs via I--93

Take Exit 18, "Mass Ave., Roxbury," and stay straight to continue on Melnea Cass Blvd. Follow this road until it ends. Turn left on Columbus Avenue and follow signs to Renaissance Parking Garage, 835 Columbus Avenue.

Storrow Drive---Fenway Exit to NU Parking

Keep left past "Boylston Street Outbound" and then keep right past "Boylston Street Inbound." At the Fens Gate (A stone structure with pillars on either side of the road), keep straight onto Westland Avenue. Take a gentle right on Massachusetts Avenue. After crossing the Orange Line, turn right on Columbus Avenue and follow signs to Renaissance Parking Garage, 835 Columbus Avenue.

Finding The Buildings:

From the parking garage, walk through Ruggles Station to the end of Forsyth Street.  Egan is on your right. For Stearns, keep walking to a food stand called "Chicken Lou's." Then turn left to cross the street, go up the stairs and look for Stearns on your right.

BY BICYCLE:

Bring your bike up in the elevator and park it in a corner of the lab or office.

Locating the OSL Lab

The Optical Science Laboratory (OSL) is located in 352 Egan Research Center (60 on the map below).

Locating Chuck's Office

Chuck's Office is in 302 Stearns (number 37 on the map below).

Locating the ECE Department Office

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department office is in Room 409 Dana Research Center (57 on the map below).
