Project Summary:
This research is investigating the energy performance of Analog Devices, Inc.'s Blackfin® processor. The overall goal of this work is to provide an energy estimation framework that can be integrated into ADI's VisualDSP++ software. In addition to estimating the energy consumed by a program, we will also provide feedback to guide more energy-efficient compiler decisions.

Presently, we are developing an instruction-level energy model for the Blackfin ISA. After this model is fully developed, we will be able to build the energy estimator. The final piece to the puzzle will ideally be a switch added to the Blackfin compiler in order to generate code optimized for energy.

This work has been made possible through funding provided by Analog Devices, Inc.
