Current Areas of Research Activity and Interest
Dr. Silevitch is an authority on space physics, particularly in the temporal and spatial structure of the Aurora Borealis and the propagation of magnetic storms. His keen interest in problem-solving is reflected in his teaching of microprocessor-based design and electromagnetic theory and applications. His additional research interests include the kinetics of the photographic development process, the statistical mechanics of dense plasmas, properties of solid state plasma, electron and ion beam dynamics, and high power microwave devices.
Dr. Silevitch has over 45 journal publications and 10 funded grants from NSF, AFGL and AFOSR in the areas of ionospheric and space physics, plasma engineering, space systems, electron devices, wave propagation and microprocessor-based instrumentation.
