Some thoughts: 1. the difference of our model and Bianchi's model Point1 :Bianchi's model is from the channel prospective, the time is divided into some consecutive cycles, each cycle contains a possible successful or failed transmission attempt, but this transmission can be originated from any nodes in the network, this approach is only effective for single hop where all the nodes can hear each other, in multi-hop case, this model(channel prospective) doesn't work anymore. Our model is from the node prospective, because we work under saturation condition, there is always packet ready after every transmission attempt, then the node is also working with some cycle. (BUT it is different from Bianchi's model). even for no saturation case, there are some cycle, which can be differentiated to into busy and idle, but for saturation case, it is just busy cycles. We need to really emphsize on it because there might be some one already used this approach but not realize it. So in any sense, we are the first one who notice the difference and propose and explain the merit of node prospective. Point2: Multihop study, Bianichi only consider case that all the nodes in the network can hear each other, while we characterize the multihop situation. We study the problem by modifying the value n in Bianchi's paper. Bianchi's approach is to study the behavior of single node's backoff procedure but then come back to channel prospective to study the performence. However, a more straightfoward approach is to study the node behavior given backoff procedure is fully investigated, then a simple transformation can yield performance which is comparable with other works. In summary, the novel aspect of the paper are: 1) Framework, provide the framework of capacity study which is universally suitable to all kinds of MAC protocol used by wireless network 2) Multihop, the first to provide the complete and validated multihop performance analysis. 3) Node prospective, the first one to notice and formally address the alternative approach of currently used channel prospective the merit of node prospective is also provided. 4) Network capacity, different definition of channel capacity so this performance measurement can reflect the network. The approach to solve the problem. Contribution/Sinificance 1) the framework which is universally suitable for all kinds of current and future networks 2) complete the family of capcity analysis for multihop 3) provide an accurate and practical parameter for QoS issue, more realistic than currently using factors.
