The Systems and Networks Department at the United Technologies Research Center invites qualified individuals to apply for open positions in the area of communication protocols and embedded systems.

The Embedded Information Devices Group of the Systems and Networks Department is seeking professionals in the area of RF system modeling, design and validation. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• RF system hardware architecture specification, design and validation
• Communications channel modeling, specification, design and validation
• Wireless networks and communication protocols
• Performance modeling and analysis of wireless networks
• Power Control in wireless computer systems
• Physics-based modeling
• RF components specification and testing

In this position, you will develop and evaluate RF communications systems to improve UTC's service, manufacturing, and maintenance supply chain operations. You will apply your knowledge in a wide range of applications from building systems to aerospace applications. You will be part of an innovative and value-driven group that believes in developing systems solutions for interfacing equipment and people with an enterprise's information infrastructure in support of business needs. Interaction with a diverse group of research scientists and engineers, technicians, technical managers, business leaders and external academic researchers is an essential aspect of this position.

MS in Electrical Engineering, or related field and 3 or more years of experience in one or more of the areas noted above. Excellent communication skills are required. The successful candidate will have a documented record of technical achievement as evidenced by publications, patents, and/or fielded systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research including generation of concepts, assessing alternative solutions, and reducing the best concepts to practice. Additionally responsible for assisting program planning, technology transfer, and building group capability by assisting recruiting and mentoring. Must be capable of working independently, contributing as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and leading projects.

The preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or related field and 5 or more years of experience with a strong research focus in areas such as RF system modeling including physics based and wireless networks and communication system design. Evidence of innovation-driven business success are additional preferred skills. Candidates with a wide and diverse range of experiences, multidisciplinary team participation, and innovation are highly valued.
