(2 Oct 2012) Here are the notes on microscopy; 11418w.pdf

(1 Oct 2012) The Kerimo paper is not readiliy available in our library system. Here's a link to a copy I have kerimo2011 . The Rajadhyaksha paper came right up for me when I did a Google-Scholar search, clicked the paper title, and then "download pdf" from the publisher's site. I was on campus at the time, so I don't know if it will work off campus. In any case, if you are having trouble, it is here .

(20 Sep 2012) Remember to look for the first two articles and make sure you can download them before the next meeting. Also, please participate in the discussion group on Blackboard with any questions or comments.

(2 Sep 2012) Welcome to Freshman Seminar FSEM1101. Our first meeting is Tuesday, 11 September, in 126RY. As you are just getting familiar with the campus, RY means "Ryder Hall" which is the last building on the right at the end of Forsyth Street as you walk toward Ruggles Subway Station.

Originally the title was "Optical Imaging in Biomedical Engineering," but people suggested that was too stuffy, so I've given it the title "2C Thru U." I've posted the syllabus and will put up some notes as the weeks pass. The plan is that I will give you a little bit of "survival" background in my research area, and then we'll spend the rest of the semester reading current research papers and learning a little about the field of biomedical optics, and about reserach in general. Do not be intimidated by the depth of some of the papers. We will be looking for the "big picture" in these papers, and we will not get into the details. Please read the syllabus and feel free to contact me through email if you have questions.

Check this web page for updates. I look forward to meeting all of you, and discussing these research topics.

ABOUT THE BACKGROUND: My favorite winter passtime is skiing. I put this background together from a detail of a photograph taken at Park City, in 2003. There are four copies in different orientations so that the tracks (and more importantly, the brightness levels) line up as the pattern repeats.
