Hossein Mosallaei

Hossein Mosallaei Hossein Mosallaei is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at Northeastern University. He received his Ph.D. degree from University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in June 2001. From 2002-2005 he was on the faculty of EECS Department at the University of Michigan as an Assistant Research Scientist. He joined Northeastern in 2005 and is currently the Director of Metamaterials Laboratory.

Dr. Mosallaei leads research activities in the areas of Physics and Modeling of Electromagnetic and Optical Metamaterials and Metasurfaces, Waves Optics in Photonics and Plasmonics, RF and Optical Antennas and Arrays, Nanoscale and Quantum-Molecular Phenomena (Metaatoms), Hybridized Nanostructured Materials, Periodic and Aperiodic Structures, Multiscale Computations and Optimizations for Complex Wave-Matter Interactions. Dr. Mosallaei is a pioneer in the field of RF-Optical Metamaterials and has organized several special sessions in national and international conferences. He has been a plenary session speaker in many symposia. Dr. Mosallaei has authored and co-authored over 150 technical journal articles and conference papers, and has one book chapter on Metamaterials and Metasurfaces. He is recipient of 2001 URSI Young Scientist award and 2002 Raj Mittra Travel Grant award. He was four times awarded the IEEE AP-S prize for student paper in 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005. His student won NU Thesis Completion Award in Spring 2010. Dr. Mosallaei is College of Engineering Nomination for 2011 Northeastern University’s Excellence in Research and Creativity Award.

Dr. Mosallaei is a senior member of IEEE, full member of URSI, member of Optical Society of America, and member of American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is listed in Who's Who in America, Science and Engineering, and the World. Dr. Mosallaei is a member of AP-S/URSI Special Sessions Committee.
