Dr. Kaeli received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers
University in 1992. He received his M.S. in Computer Engineering from
Syracuse University in 1985 and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from
Rutgers University in 1981.
He has a courtesy appointment in the College of Computer and Information
Science at Northeastern, and a honorary professorship from City University
of London, UK.
For the 2001-2002 academic year he spent a year as a Visiting Professor
Departament of d'Arquitectura de Computadors
Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya.
Prior to joining Northeastern, Dr. Kaeli spent 12 years working at IBM and
Dr. Kaeli is the Director of the Northeastern University Computer
Architecture Research Laboratory
He serves as a Project Leader in the NIEHS
The Puerto Rico Testsite for Exploring Contamination Threats
He served as a Research Thrust Leader for the NSF
Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems
He is a member of the Northeastern University
Institute for Information Assurance
He is also a member of the
Institute for Complex Scientific Software
His research looks at the performance and design
of high-performance computer systems and software.
Current research topics include:
profile-guided compilation, high-ILP microarchitectures,
architectural features for security,
branch prediction studies, workload characterization, memory hierarchy
design, embedded systems design and software testing.
He frequently provides tutorials on the
subjects of Profiling and Instrumentation
and Trace-Driven Simulation .
Prof. Kaeli is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Distinguished
Scientist of the ACM.
He presently serves as Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Computer
Architecture. He recently served as a Member-at-Large for ACM SIGMicro,
and on CRA's Computing Community Consortium for 3 years.
He presently serves as an
Associate Editor for ACM Transactions on Architecture and Code Optimization,
IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems and
the Elsevier Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing.
Previously, he has served as an
Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Computers and
and IEEE Computer Architecture Letters.
He is a member of the Eta Kappa Nu honor societies.
Dr. Kaeli served as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs
in the College of Engineering from 2010-2013.
