Announcements (Last Update 7 September 2006)

(Sept 7, 2006) First lab starts this week Friday, September 8th.

(Sept 7, 2006) Before coming to the first lab, please

(1) Print out the instructions for experiment #1,

(2) Buy a lab notebook (with grids),

(3) Complete the pre-lab activities in the instructions.

Welcome

Welcome to the ECEU401 Website.  Let us begin with a personal comment.  When I first learned electronics, I used (completely by accident) two different learning methods:  On one hand, I assembled radios and audio equipment from the
"hobby kits" that were common in those days, mostly by following directions without fully understanding them.  On the other hand,  I bought basic electronic components and learned to put them together by trial and error.  Sometimes the errors were quite spectacular!  This course has been carefully designed by previous faculty members in our department, to give you much the same experience:  There are activities where you will mostly follow the directions and later learn the principles behind them in your courses.  There also times for exploring and observing with only limited directions.  The topics have been chosen carefully, to expose you to most of the concepts, components, and test equipment that you will see throughout your careers in Electrical and Computer Engineering.  Now in my everyday research, these are the tools of my trade.  I hope you will enjoy learning them in this lab and using them as I have.  Welcome to the lab.--Chuck DiMarzio

Professor McKnight and I will each take responsibility for certain sections, but expect to see all of us now and then throughout the semester.   As you work together in teams, we also, with our teaching assistants work as a team to help you learn.
  --Mehmet Dokmeci, 7 September 2006

As of September 7th, this website is still a work in progress.
The first six lab experiments will remain largely unchanged, but the pages with the semester name at the top are still being updated.  Before arriving for lab the first day, (A) print out the instructions for lab 1, (B) buy a lab notebook, and (C) complete the pre-lab activities in the instructions.
