HOW DO I SECURE A CO-OP POSITION ?
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER !



SEPTEMBER 18th, 2009 IS THE DEADLINE FOR STUDENTS TO UPLOAD THEIR RESUME AND MEET WITH THEIR CO-OP ADVISOR TO INFORM THEM OF THEIR PLANS FOR YOUR NEXT CO-OP WORK SEMESTER THAT BEGINS ON JANUARY 4th, 2010.

   
1.    REMEMBER, ANY STUDENT WHO HAS DECIDED NOT TO RETURN TO THEIR PREVIOUS CO-OP EMPLOYER, AND HAS INFORMED US OF THAT FACT BY THE REQUIRED DATE, MUST HAVE ALSO INFORMED  THEIR FORMER CO-OP EMPLOYER OF THEIR DECISION VIA EMAIL - WITH A "VISIBLE" COPY OF THAT EMAIL SENT TO THEIR ASSIGNED CO-OP COORDINATOR.
 
THIS ACTION WILL EFFECTIVELY TERMINATE THE STUDENT'S RELATIONSHIP AND CONTACT WITH THAT EMPLOYER !



2.    ALL STUDENTS, SEEKING A NEW CO-OP POSITION,  MUST UPLOAD AN UPDATED A "PROOFED" COPY OF THEIR RESUME TO myNEU COOL, ON OR BEFORE, SEPTEMBER 18th, 2009 


3.    ON OR ABOUT OCTOBER 2nd, 2009, ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE CONFORMED TO OUR REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES WILL BE "RELEASED" TO VIEW AVAILABLE ECE CO-OP POSITIONS. THEY WILL BE ASKED TO IDENTIFY AND SELECT TEN [10] POSITIONS IN WHICH THEY ARE "VERY INTERESTED" OR "MODERATELY INTERESTED" IN - CAREFULLY FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS PROVIDED ON myNEU COOL.

       ANY STUDENT WHO FAILS TO MAINTAIN THE REQUIRED GRADE POINT AVERAGE ALLOWING THEM TO PROGRESS ACADEMICALLY WITH THEIR CLASS, WILL BE CONSIDERED INELIGIBLE TO INTERVIEW FOR "CO-OP" POSITIONS DEVELOPED BY THE ECE DEPARTMENT COOPERATIVE EDUCATION FACULTY; THEY WILL NOT BE "RELEASED" TO VIEW CO-OP JOB POSTINGS !



4    SOME STUDENTS MAY WISH TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN "CO-OP" EMPLOYMENT. HOWEVER, THEY MUST PETITION FOR OUR APPROVAL OF ANY SUCH "STUDENT DEVELOPED POSITION". THE STUDENT MUST WORK IN TANDEM WITH THEIR COORDINATOR FOR ANY SUCH POSITION TO RECEIVE OUR APPROVAL; THEREBY GRANTING CO-OP CREDIT ON THEIR ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THEIR WORK.



REM,EMBER, FACTORS SUCH AS YOUR GRADE POINT AVERAGE, TRANSPORTATION ISSUES, GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION, SECURITY CLEARANCES AND COORDINATOR SCREENING MAY ULTIMATELY IMPACT YOUR REFERRALS. THEREFORE, INDICATING A STRONG INTEREST OR PREFERENCE FOR A POSITION DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY GUARANTEE A REFERRAL TO AN EMPLOYER.
